Health
Requirements
Our
strict health and cleanliness policies are to protect the
health and welfare of all our guests. If your cat is an
outdoor cat, we can not board him or her. If
your kitty is in need of advanced medical care, please inquire
with a veterinarian boarding facility or another boarding
service who offers veterinarian or techs on staff.
Feline
Vaccinations: Although
we have our own opinions about immunizations, as we have seen
kitties have reactions to immunization shots, we highly prefer
a standard of immunizations to keep our kitty guests healthy
and safe while boarding.
If
your cat has not been immunized please call us to discuss
the health and history of your cat.
We
prefer the following immunizations for our kitty guests.
1.
FELV (Feline Leukemia Virus)
2.
*FVRCP
(Feline herpes virus 1, calicivirus, and panleukopenia virus)
*Some
vets do not give FVRCP shots to cats over 10 years old. Again,
iIf your cat can not receive vaccinations, please call us
to discuss this as we can possibly make acceptions.
Copies
of records are usually brought to us upon check-in or mailed
ahead of time.
The
health of your pet - Our kitty guests need to be
protected. That is why it is imperative that your kitty is
an indoor cat only. Your pet can not have or show signs of
the following contagious symptoms before or during boarding
services:
Ringworm
- if your cat has suffered with ringworm in the last year,
please inquire about our in-your home pet sitting services.
Coughing Sneezing
- unless you are certain it is allergies
Colds
Discharge - due to contagious illnesses
Leukemia
Ear mites
Fleas
Ticks
Diarrhea
Blood in urine - cats must be have had a veterinarian
check-up and being treated, i.e.: med's, before boarding
begins. Urinary infections are accepted, if under the care
of a vet.
Any other contagious or threatening illnesses not listed
here
If
you notice your cat has ear mites, please treat them for 2-3
weeks before your service with us begins. If your kitty has
fleas, please have your kitty treated and free of fleas for
1 month before service begins. It is best to take your kitty
to the vet for this treatment. Home treatment can be toxic
and sometimes fatal.
Developed
symptoms in cats - If your cat develops contagious
illness symptoms while in our care, your cat will be quarantined
and/or transported to a veterinarian clinic for boarding services
right way. The client will be responsible for all fees related,
including medical bills, kenneling, and fees set forth by
our company for our time and attention to this matter. Rest
assure, we will make every effort to contact you immediately,
if your cat ever develops symptoms.
Spay
and Neuter - Cats must be spayed or neutered. If
your cat is for breeding purposes, please inquire with us.
However we can not provide services for cats in heat. We do
not support breeding, due to the overwhelming population of
homeless cats.
Newly
adopted cats from shelters - If you have just adopted
a cat from a shelter, please wait 6 weeks before receiving
our bed and breakfast services. If you are in our service
area, you can use our pet sitting services until the appropriate
time has passed. Unfortunately, most cats carry diseases when
they have just been adopted from the shelters, until they
have been fully treated and time has passed. We ask that clients
please abide by this rule. We also want to mention that we
commend you for rescuing a sweet, precious animals in need
of your love, and look forward to caring for your cat soon!
Outdoor
cats - We do not personally believe any cat should
have access to roam free in the outdoors due to predatory
wildlife, animal cruelty, traffic, severe weather conditions
and parasite infestation- due to eating birds or rodents.
We also can not accept kitty's who are allowed to roam around
outdoors, due to the high possibility of contracting diseases
such as Leukemia (through outdoor water sources, and Rabies,
that is prevalent in Tucson. However, we do allow outdoor
cats who are only accustomed to screened-in areas, that has
had no contact with any elements or other animals outdoors.
