In-Home Pet Sitting Services
Policies & Procedures
Please
be sure to take the time to read our entire policy page. This
is a very personal service and we want to make sure all of
our clients are comfortable with our policies and procedures
as we serve you and your pets for the years to come!
Meet and Greet
Sometimes
clients prefer to meet Kim's Pet Sitting Services owner and
staff, before setting up an official consultation. Meet and
Greet visits are highly recommended for our overnight and
24 hour service. This usually takes between 15-30 minutes.
Since there is no charge for this service, we do count on
the meet and greet not going over the suggested time frame.
Our Consultations
We offer
a free, 30 minute consultation in your home. At this time
we meet you and your pets and have you walk us through your
daily pet and home care routine in detail. Before the consultation,
we send our service forms, via email attachment, to set up
your client account. We need the service forms to be completed
for the time of our consultation.
The
service forms include:
- Specific pet & home care instructions
- Veterinarian contact information & medical emergency
arrangements
- Emergency contact numbers
- Your travel contact information, including destinations
& land lines for each trip
- Service Agreement
- 2 working keys are needed at time of consultation, if
upcoming services have been booked.
Scheduling a consultation:
Due to our heavy pet sitting schedule on the weekends,
we need to make our consultation appointments during the weekdays
or early evenings.
Last
minute consultations for new clients: Even in a last
minute emergency, we need to schedule an in-home consultation
to meet you, your pets, and to go over your pet and home care
routines. We can never offer services without our forms filled
out and coming to your home to go over your pet and home care
routine.
Payment
for services: We use Paypal Email Invoicing Systems
and Cash is also accepted. Payment for services must be paid
before or at the time service begins. Sorry we can no longer
accept checks.
Paypal
Payment Systems accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express,
Discover, and personal or business Checks. It's easy, convenient
and safe to use! KPSS will sent your invoice via email with
all dates and time frames listed on your receipt. The client
easily follows the link that was sent to their email, and
then submits their payment securely online. Payments can be
submitted just by one click for existing paypal customers.
If you are not an existing paypal client, it's also very easy
to use and does not require membership.
Refunds:
In the event a client has paid for services before
services begin, we can offer a credit to be used at a later
date. If the client prefers to receive a refund, a 5% processing
fee is applied to refund balance. Paypal charges us a fee
to process all payments.
Early
Returns: A 24 hours notice must be given to receive
a full credit for unused services. If a 24 hour notice is
not given, we retain one full day of service fees, and the
balance will be issued by credit.
Shared pet sits:
Due to our insurance policy, and other factors, we usually
can not accept any shared pet sitting services with friends,
family, or neighbors. But, you can inquire for certain situations,
but it's usually not a good idea.
Every
other day, or so, pet sitting: We can not accept
every other day pet sitting. All pet sitting services must
be scheduled at least 1 x per day, in consecutive days in
a row, at least from the day after your departure to the day
before your arrival date. This assures us that if your pet
ends up stuck behind a dryer or in a cabinet, becomes ill,
or your air conditioner breaks in the summer, they can be
helped in a reasonable amount of time.
Our Pet Sitters
KPSS
is a owner operated company. However, at times we need to
use the services of our fully trained, qualified pet sitters
that are on-call during high season scheduling, vacations,
or if we become ill. We fully understand all the concerns
of pet and home owners in needing someone 100% trustworthy,
competent, and that has a sincere heart for the welfare and
care of all animals. Knowing that most pet owners who contact
us, consider their pets as "family members," we
take this responsibility very seriously. We will
always set up a meet and greet to any pet sitters that will
be used for your pet and home care services. The only time
a pet sitter might enter your home without meeting you is
in the event of an emergency while your services are in progress
and the scheduled pet sitter is not able to fulfill the scheduled
service. We offer training to all fill-in pet sitters for
your specific pet and home care needs.
Our
pet sitters must pass a thorough background check performed
by a professional investigation service, provide multiple
professional references- not friends or family members. They
must also submit copies of their drivers license, ss # for
ID verification, and proof of auto insurance that is updated
yearly. We also obtain a signed KPSS contract that states
their agreement and knowledge of all of our policies, procedures,
and highly ethical expectations.
Scheduling Services
Regular morning &
evening visits: Call us anytime, but it is recommended
that you book services at least 2 weeks prior. We are flexible
and last minute notices are accepted for our established clients.
Overnight
Services: Call us anytime, but it is recommended
that you book these services up to 60 days prior, to assure
availability. We are flexible, and as long as we can meet
your schedule needs, we do except last minute requests.
Same
day/Urgent/or Emergency Pet & Home Care requests with
under a 24 hour notice given: Please add $5, plus
your regular service fee for any service requests to visit
your pets or perform any home care duties, for any reason
without over 24 hour notice. This fee applies, even if it
is not necessary for us to be at your home for the full length
of a regular home care or pet sitting visit. Add $10 for overnight
services. Availability is not guaranteed, but we will try
very hard to accommodate you and usually do.
Client
Home Lock-out: Feel free to call us in the event
you lock yourself out of your home, and have had our company
keep your key. The fee is only $35 for us
to come to your home to let you in using your key. The fee
will be paid at time of entry. However, we can not guarantee
we are available at the time of your last minute request,
and if not, would suggest calling a locksmith.
Holiday Fees:
Please add the following fees to the specific
days listed below.
$5 extra for the day, for 30, 45,
and 60 minute visits
$10 per day for Overnight
Easter Day
July 4th Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Eve (extra fee for visits after 6pm, & overnights
only)
Christmas Day
New Year's Evening (extra fee for visits after 6pm, &
overnights only)
New Year's Day
Holiday Deposits
Holiday regular day
visits: Requires no deposit for established clients.
Holiday overnight
& 24 Hour Service: Established and new clients
are required to submit a 50% deposit in order to book Holiday
services. Please remember, we can not reserve your Holiday
reservations, until the 50% deposit is submitted. The balance
will be due 3-5 days before you depart if you are paying via
paypal, or if paying cash, you must leave the balance on the
counter for the time we start your pet care services.
Holiday Cancellations
Holiday regular day
visits: There are no cancellation fees for services
that are cancelled. Unless you have already paid via Paypal,
then we have to charge a 5% fee of your total amount paid
to cover our fees charge to us by Paypal.
Holiday Overnight & 24 Hour Service
Cancellations: A credit
is given for any deposits previously paid.
Home Temperature:
Our clients must have the temperature in their home set no
higher then 82 degrees. We prefer at least 78 degrees for
the welfare of your pets. We will not leave fans on in place
of A/C units during the hot season. If you have an A/C problem,
please ask us about our cool cat boarding services and referrals
for in-home dog boarding in Tucson.
OutDoor Dog Sitting:
We do not accept strictly outdoor pet sitting requests for
dogs, unless you have air conditioned housing outside and
secure and safe fencing. We have learned that outdoor elements
in Arizona with the extreme heat in the summers, and thunderstorms,
including the threat of snakes on some properties, are too
severe for both your animals and our pet sitters. Dogs that
have doggie doors with access to the indoors are accepted.
We do not accept small dogs that are only outdoor dogs, as
wild animals can easily jump high fences here in Arizona and
take your dog.
Outdoor Cat Sitting:
We never accept outdoor pet sitting services for
cats. Domestic cats should never ever live outdoors. We have
learned that Leukemia, rabies, FFVL, predator wild life, cars,
and animal abusing humans, can be a grave threat to the outdoor
feline community. If you have an unusual circumstance with
an outdoor cat, please call us and let us know the situation
for possible approval.
FYI: Did
you know 50% of cats and dogs missing in Tucson are actually
stolen for dog fighting bait. This is a fact. If you have
just moved here, you might not be aware of Tucson's severe
animal cruelty problems regarding dog fighting. You can do
a google search and find these facts with articles containing
information from the Tucson Police Department and local Humane
Society. We highly recommend not leaving your dog or cat outside
unattended- EVER.
Feral Community &
Stray Cats: We accept! If you are feeding outdoor
feral cats or a stray cat that can not reside indoors for
reasons beyond your control, we will gladly follow your feeding
and watering routine.
Aggressive Animals:
We do not have special animal handlers that can work with
aggressive animals, therefore, we can not offer our services
for them. If your pet has bitten anyone in the past, or shows
aggressive behavior, please kindly make other arrangements.
We have found that the best pet care for aggressive animals
are to board them at a reputable commercial boarding facility.
Windows & Doors:
We do not accept pet sits where the client requests
any windows or doors to remain open. Please do not ask us
if we will make exceptions in the consultation or at a later
date when pet sitting services are in progress. We urge clients
to check with their local police department for Tucson crime
statistics. Any open windows and doors will be closed and
locked during our pet sitting services. We must protect your
animals, home, and our pet sitters while you are away. No
exceptions unless you have bars on your windows and the pets
can not escape out of them.
